The Alentejo is an attractive area with long beaches, wide open plains and large farms with olive groves, cork oaks and vineyards. Many farms rear fighting bulls. Hilltop towns, often surrounded by walls and with a castle that has been converted into a hotel in the Pousada group. Hot, dry days in an area that is inhabited by few people and one of the places that has the most sun in Europe. The western coast has long, sandy deserted Atlantic beaches, some of which are sheltered and others suitable for surfing. The main town is Evora with the remains of the Roman temple of Diana which is overlooked by a popular Pousada. All the properties have a kitchen for those wanting self catering accommodation. The villas have their own swimming pool. Prices of the villas are per week with the changeover day shown, |
