Years ago, the Rabelo boats sailed the River Douro taking the wine from the producing estates to Gaia where the wine matures.

Nowadays pleasure cruise boats sail up river in a memorable and interesting journey with vineyards covering the slopes of the valley.

Casa do Carvalho Cottage was rebuilt by the present owners to provide modern day amenities including central heating.

On the upper floor there is a living/dining room with Satellite television. The kitchen is fully equipped with a four ring cooker, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, and toaster.

There is also a small terrace, overlooking the pine trees and the river, which is suitable for outdoor dining.

From the corridor there is a staircase, protected by a wooden gate, leading to the bedrooms on the lower floor.

There is one twin and one double bedroom sharing a bathroom. On the lower floor there is also a small patio overlooking the pine trees and the outdoor games area.

Guests staying at Casa do Carvalho will enjoy other facilities at the property including children's playground, sports area suitable for tennis or five a side football and bowls.

There is a swimming pool in the grounds and a covered terrace with table tennis and table football. The property also has a small, private pontoon.

The dimensions of the swimming pool are 7 by 14 metres and the depth varies from 1.20 to 2.20 metres.

Quinta do Cao, the Manor House, approximately 100 meters away, has a games room with pool table. All the facilites are also used by the guests staying at the Quinta.
