The house and cottages are elevated on the hillside with high stone walls ensuring privacy and a relaxing holiday away from it all.

The house was originally called Quinta Senhora da Graca taking the name of the Saint of the Chapel which is located next to the main house.

The Quinta was renamed, Casa Alta, in the 18th century.

In the gardens there is a fountain which gave the name to the nearby village of Fontoura, the gold fountain.  According to legend, gold nuggets were found in the fountain.

The main house has 2 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms which can provide additional accommodation if required. Both the main house and the cottages are centrally heated making them suitable for winter breaks.

The living room, which features a stone fireplace, is large and comfortably furnished with a sofa, two armchairs and, a snooker table.

There is also a games room with table tennis table and football table.

Separate to the main house are 3 single storey stone cottages and a communal room.
The cottages all have a living room with fireplace and Satellite television, and kitchenette with a 2 burner hob, refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine and a kettle.

Casa da Eira has 2 double bedrooms both with en suite bathroom
Casa do Meio has 1 twin bedroom with an en suite bathroom
Casa do Alpendre has 1 bedroom with two divan beds and a twin bedroom. Both have en suite shower room.

There is also a communal room with a long table and a kitchen with a cooker with oven and 4 hobs, dishwasher, fridge and coffee machine.

Adjacent to this room is a shower room to support the swimming pool which is on the lawn in front of the cottages. The dimensions of the swimming pool are 7 metres by 14 metres and the depth is 1 to 2.10 metres.

The nearest restaurant is approximately 2 kilometres and serves traditional Portuguese food.

Supermarket, shops and bars can be found in the border town of Valenca approximately 10 kilometres away or, the Spanish border town of Tuy (Tui) across the river.
For golfers there is a spectacular golf course at Ponte de Lima.

Visitors to the Quinta may care to visit the National Park of Peneda Geres where you can still see the rapidly disappearing subsistence agriculture in the old Celtic villages.

Also worth visiting is the old sailing town of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Guimaraes and the Port Wine Houses in Porto.

From the Quinta, you can also visit Vigo, Baiona and Santiago de Compostela in the Galicia region of Spain via a fast motorway.

Nearest beaches are Baiona and Modedo in Caminha, both approximately 23 kms away from Casa Alta.

The nearest airports are Vigo in Spain and Oporto (Porto) in Portugal.
